Jan
Vels is a Dutch photographer living in Cologne, Germany. He got into
photography at age 13 and started shooting nudes of his girlfriends at 19.
He specializes in glamour photography and has gained a reputation for
further specializing in shooting his nudes in outdoor, public settings. He
has gone on to create a small empire with the publication of several
websites created around his work and published the book, Nude in Public
through Edition-Reuss.
After being frustrated with the type of models he was able to get through
agencies he decided to start his own. This coincided with his travels to
Czechoslovakia (and his eventual marriage to a Czech girl) where he became
enamored with the natural beauty of Europe's eastern beauties. It was a
wonderful pool to draw modeling talent from and his photographer friends
soon started to inquire about where to hire the women that he was
shooting. This led to his starting the Cologne Model agency.
