Owen Johnson is the main photographer for X-muse.net. He is assisted by his female partner, Tehanu who acts as a model for the site as well as a designer, and occasionally a photographer. Most of the text is written by a third partner, Veronica, who holds a PhD in Japanese Literature.

X-Muse postures itself as an alternative to the typical website populated with youthful starlets. The X-Muse team seeks models that they feel are truly worthy of being called a "muse". They are individual women who are beautiful in both body and spirit. Consider just some of the accomplishments of their models: an author whose first novel spent 57 weeks on the New York Times bestseller list; a gorgeous chef who works at a landmark New Orleans restaurant; a classically trained ballerina; a fetish model who moonlights as a doctoral candidate in philosophy; an internationally known fashion model whose hands alone are worth over $6000/hour; a Doctor with a Masters degree in BioPhysics and Engineering; and the list goes on. While X-Muse doesn't claim to have the most models, they sure can claim to have some of the most interesting. And they are all featured a growing collection of smart, sensual "portrait" studies showcased in both still and video formats.
