Bryan
Sebastian Oten is an up and coming professional photographer. When
not consumed by his "day job", Bryan works on his
photographic passion, he says, and he is particularly attracted to fine
art nude (FAN) photography. He runs a small digitally-oriented studio in
San Diego, California. He's shot some weddings and even photographed the
34th NAACP IMAGE Awards, and would like to do even more commercial work,
but he says his true passion is working with the female nude, especially
black females. He discovered a website, www.blackmirages.com,
that portrayed the beauty of the black female and confesses to being
awestruck by it. In fact, he says that his desire to work in this genre is
almost wholly motivated by his desire to portray the beauty of the black
female. It's something of a mission for him now, especially given the
negative stereotypes that so pervade the media regarding black women. As
he says, "There's a style and grace and a certain amount of power
that a black woman has, and that's what I want to capture."
