Raivo
Nael
A
self-taught photographer from Estonia, Raivo Nael was originally a student
of mathematics and physics. He freelances now doing various design
projects and photo-shoots. His medium is digital photography. Art
photography is his "counterbalance" to the normal reality
everyday life. As an artist he seeks divinity in the female form - he
searches for God in their shapes and contours. "Photography,
especially nude photography, is very effective way to explore human
nature. I also believe that art always contains things more important than
our everyday life."
Raivo laments the current situation in his country with regard to models
and nude photography in general. As he says, "We in Estonia have no
good tradition of modeling and great part of society is overly pornophobic.
So even doing very tasteful nudes can turn into a quite the nightmare
sometimes." This aversion of his countrymen has helped to inspire and
motivate him. Hopefully, his focus on art and beauty will serve as a good
example to others and help Estonia overcome its prejudices.
