Richard Kern
Richard Kern was born in 1954 in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina. The turning point of his life happened one afternoon in 1971, when he was picked up by a carload of hot, young, scantily-clad New York City glam girls while hitchhiking after a day of skipping high school. He was captivated. The end result has been more than two decades of hard, sexually blunt work, in both video and photography.

Kern has photographed numerous celebrities but his most famous work is his nude photography of women, and has appeared in Hustler and Barely Legal, as well as in a series of critically acclaimed photography books. Kern's work possesses a deep sense of darkness and controversy that is intimate and instantly recognizable. He learned his skills from the streets and its punks, runaways and street girls who bring an edgy, sensual quality to his material.
