Vlad
Gansovsky
Vlad Gansovsky's father worked as an engineer but dabbled quite seriously
in photography on the side, and it was from him that he learned to take
pictures. Though he grew up feeling quite familiar with the medium he
never looked upon it as his sole source of self expression, and he spent
much of his youth looking for artistic outlets. It wasn't until he
developed an interest in body-painting that his interest in photography
was rekindled.
Step by step, he says, he gravitated more and more towards photography
until in 2000, it became his single most important endeavor. In 2003 he
joined the Union of Art Photographers.
Vlad sees his photographs as emotional portraits, he often calls them
naked portraits whether the subject is clothed or not. He tries to define
the qualities of individuality in each of his subjects, instead of hiding
or minimizing physical defects. He also says that he prefers non-standard
models, subjects who are not so much pretty as they are genuine. it's the
inner world that interests him and that is the central theme to his work.
