Chris
Daze Ellis
Chris
Daze Ellis was born in New York City and raised on a
healthy diet of graffiti, comics, exploitation movies, and the music of
Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, and Parliament Funkadelic. From 1977 to 1982
he immersed himself completely into the world of graffiti art. After this
period he became a fixture in the East Village art scene where he exhibited
works alongside such artists as Crash, Keith Haring, and Jean Michel Basquait.
Though Chris considers himself a painter first and foremost, photography
has, he says, been an integral part of his career. The photographers
that continue to inspire him are Terry Richardson, Daido Moriyama, Diane
Arbus, Nobuyoshi Araki, and Richard Kern. Chris' work can be viewed in
galleries worldwide or on his website.
