Mark
Davis currently lives in Michigan but is moving to the Los Angeles area at
the time of this writing. He is a relatively young photographer who has
been shooting for just over two years and has been doing nudes for about
half that time. He works in Medium Format. The nude attracted his interest
because the female form is ".. quite simply, a work of art. Nudity is
such a powerful symbol. Among many things, it can represent freedom,
vulnerability, and sexuality".
Mark currently has several series' of nudes that he is working on. The
Form Series, the Corner Series, the Light Series, the Shadow Series, and
the Distraction Series. This latter series was inspired by Mark reading
critiques by photographers who've indicated that they find themselves
distracted by miniscule elements of the photograph. The images in this
series are a reaction to those types of critiques and the distracting
elements are included on purpose.
