Chopin
Will
Chopin is a self-taught photographer who first started taking pictures
when he was fifteen. He gradually developed his skill and gained enough
confidence to shoot a friend’s wedding, and now, thirty years later,
he's running his own wedding and portrait photography business.
In his personal work, he feel most inspired when he's engaged in the
process of creating studies of the female figure. Will feels it's
important to develop a working knowledge of his subject before the session
begins. As he says, "Knowing her likes and dislikes, her goals and
aspirations, these things help me to form a mental image of how she should
be captured by the lens. I also believe that the most successful nude
studies are a collaboration between model and photographer. Each person
has something unique to bring to the session, and I am always open to the
model’s suggestions. When we work together, the synergy which results
often leads to some inspirational images".
Will made the transition to digital photography two years ago, and now
uses digital equipment exclusively. His toolbox includes Canon EOS D10 and
Kodak DC4800 cameras, Adobe Photoshop, Painter 7, Genuine Fractals,
ThumbsPlus, Epson 1280 and 870 printers, and portable strobes by Metz.
When he's not working he likes to study the works of Edward Weston, Ralph
Gibson, David Hamilton, and Jeff Dunas.
