Crisbasan
Cristian
Crisbasan began working as a journalist in Bucharest shortly after the
communist part fell from power in Romania. He worked for newspapers,
magazines, TV and radio stations and specialized in lifestyle, the arts,
and fashion. It was while covering the fashion scene that he first came
into contact with professional models. He even hired some for personal
sessions but back then he was more interested in painting them.
Cristian joined the staff at Playboy (Romania) in 1999 as a fashion editor
and stylist. He eventually started assisting the photographers during
their sessions and got to know the basics of shooting pictures. He soon
bought some photography equipment and started taking photos of his own. He
continued to work at Playboy as well as other magazines and perfected his
photography skills to the point that after rising to the position of
Editorial Director he left the security of a steady paycheck and ventured
forth as a freelance photographer.
With such a strong background in the visual arts as well as being so
thoroughly connected to the fashion world his nude work was destined to be
incredible - and it is indeed. Many of the women he works with are raving
beauties who are superb models and his strong compositional skills are
noteworthy. Fashion photography has obviously played a major role in his
vision but he also studies the great masters such as Helmut Newton,
Bettina Rheims, and Cartier Bresson. Cristian lives and works in
Bucharest, Romania with his wife and their four year old daughter.
