Claudio
Alessandri
Women
is one of the Best Books of 2001. This over-sized and
beautifully printed book is a breathtaking example of artistic excellence.
Over a period of several years, Claudio Alessandri photographed an
eclectic series of women in his studio, all of whom had never posed nude
before. He used a classic 8x10" large format camera that not only
provided outstanding results but also, as Claudio reports, gave his
subjects the time and respect they deserved. The resulting body of 120
portraits is a superb study in female diversity: radiant, youthful beauty;
regal older ladies with wrinkled yet no less beautiful skin; large
breasts, small breasts; strength, frailty; mothers and daughters. It is a
lovely and loving look at what real feminine beauty is all about. A
masterpiece.
Claudio Alessandri turned to photography in 1975, after studying
Architecture in Milan. He assisted a number of famous Condé Nast
photographers, from Barry Lategan to Gian Paolo Barbieri. In 1985 he
ventured forth as a professional freelance photographer. His work has been
exhibited in Paris and Berlin and he has received several prestigious
awards for his work.
