Hans
Van Ooyen
Hidden
beauty is what German photographer Hans van Ooyen is focused upon. It's
something that he says he finds in every girl he passes on the street,
every woman he espies at a bus stop, indeed, almost every female that he
encounters. It’s not a loud, radiating quality but a much more mundane,
natural presence that he feels tuned into. Bringing out the hidden beauty
of his subjects is what his photography is all about.
Hans was born in Germany in 1954. He's worked as a writer of poetry, short
stories and radio theatre. Some of his written work has been published in
more than 20 languages. He learned photography from his father but it took
a long time for him to "come into" the medium. Now he finds it
even more fascinating than writing. He currently works as director at and
advertising agency in Berlin.
