Rebecca
Tillett
Rebecca
Tillett is a young graphics student from Las Cruces, New Mexico. She is
attending New Mexico State University studying digital graphics. Her
passion is photography. She was born in 1982 to young parents who were
both students. She literally grew up on the NMSU campus and for eleven
years her entire world was that university neighborhood. As she moved into
her adolescence, here family finally moved to a house and slow started to
disintegrate. Her parents fought constantly and she discovered
self-mutilation.
Several tumultuous years followed: depression, estrangement, suicide
attempts, and the self-inflicted death of her father. Rebecca dealt with
the reality of her life by turning towards beauty and art. An interest in
fashion led her to wanting to capture the beauty of runway models on film.
The idea of physical perfection intrigued her and she searched the depths
of her soul for inspiration. Her grandfather gave her a Canon EOS camera
as a high school graduation gift and she clung to it, professing that she
could now not live without it.
Many of our greatest art photographers have started from similar needs to
express themselves, their desires, their fantasies, and their worldview.
And Rebecca will undoubtedly be most interesting to watch as she develops
her talent and channels her passion into her art works.
