John
Sunderland
Photography
was a happy accident for John Sunderland. The Home Shopping Network mis-shipped
his father-in-law a camera in 1986. Rather than return it, he gave it to
John. This errant gift quickly became John's most important means of self
expression, something he'd been searching for much of his life to little
avail. With a natural forté for things technical (he was a mechanic) he
threw himself into the medium and eventually attended and graduated from
the New York Institute of Photography.
John's work is an amazing compilation of photographic and artistic
excellence. John has always felt eternity is reflected in the simple perfection
of nudity; his cameras have become the mirror to that reflection. His nudes
display an incredible mastery of light and composition. His models are
usually quite beautiful to begin with, but he transforms them into angels.
