Roffman
Just
released in October, Friends & Lovers is the eighth book from
acclaimed photographer Howard Roffman. It features 180 duotone plates that
document the very real relationships of seven very handsome young men. The
journey began for Roffman in 1999 after meeting Jeremy. This initial
encounter led to a sequence of other meetings that eventually formed the
group of seven. Roffman photographed these young Adonis's over a period of
three years documenting their personalities, their passionate
relationships, and their friendship. Friends & Lovers is the
result.
This is more than just a series of lithesome, attractive, young men at
play, but is more of a holistic study of real friends and real lovers.
Individuals not afraid to showcase their most intimate moments. And it's
all real. Commenting on the book, Tom Bianchi stated, "Older gay men
might wish they had this kind of erotic and playful start on their
romantic life journeys. Roffman's book celebrates the fact that this kind
of youth ...is real for those who choose it now. He captures many elegant
tender moments that suggest that this is always how we should have
been."
