Brian
Peterson
Brian Peterson's work is focused
primarily on two themes: the nude in nature and capturing the simple,
unadorned beauty of the female form in the studio. Mountains, rock
formations, and redwood forests are his source of inspiration in Nature
and he tries to represent the female form as an integrated part of nature.
In the studio, Brian seeks to capture a natural expression of feminine
beauty using soft focus, simple lighting, and warm colors. "Every
model has a unique expression of beauty and sensuality" he says.
"In order to capture this inner essence, I create an open and relaxed
expanse wherein the has model freedom to express herself and we can
collaboratively create the images I envision.".
What's amazing is that Brian didn't get started in photography until just
three years ago. What started as an attempt to balance his life with a
creative diversion soon turned into a passion that consumes his every
waking moment outside of his computer-related day job. Brian immediately
started down the digital route, bypassing the darkroom by scanning his
black & white negatives and chromes. While he still occasionally works
with black and white negatives, especially in low lit canyon areas, he
primarily shoots digitally. For studio work he uses a Phase One LightPhase
digital back on a Mamiya 645AF and for outdoor work he uses a Kodak
DCS560.
