Craig
Oddy
Craig Oddy is a 45 year old photographer based in Leeds, northern
England. He has been in the photography business since the age of 16, working
commercially for advertising agencies, music corporations and television
companies. He occasionally dabbled with shooting nudes.
When in 2002 Oddy was
offered his first exhibition, rather than show any work from
the previous 25 years, he decided to shoot something specifically for the exhibit.
The result was Abstractions, a series of giant, abstract, vivid color
prints
of the naked female form enshrined in bits of powder paint,
malt,
baking
powder, honey, etc. Since then Oddy's work has lead him further into the
erotic side of photography. This has resulted in exhibitions, calendars, book
covers and personal commissions. His work has been published in Spain, Italy, and
South America. He's also been working closely with a Dominatrix and has compiled
a huge series of fetish pictures, something that might transpire into a
book.
Oddy
is not only influenced by photographers like Man Ray and Helmut Newton. His
history includes singing in a post-punk band, acting, painting, and studying
philosophy. This varied past draws him to the likes of Lucien Freud, David
Sylvian, Milan Kundera, and David Lynch.
