ROALF Jensen
Danish
artist René ROALF Jensen works as a portrait photographer. He creates
artistic images of businessmen, doctors, artists, models, and anyone
looking for a unique and professional perspective of themselves. A recent
sitting was the Miss Denmark who refused to participate in the Miss World
contest. He also shoots for various magazines.
Main influences are painters like René Magritte, Wainer Vaccari,
Bortocelli, and Francis Bacon. But it's hard, he maintains, to point out
any specific influence, as he feels most strongly motivated by beauty and
anything that surrounds him, such as his wife and family.
René uses large format cameras, a Canon D1, Adobe Photoshop, and a
Hasseblad medium format camera. Of note is his original methods of
finishing his prints. He's been known to "paint" them with
mustard, ketchup, and oil colors, and then baking them in the oven. He has
also studied radiology and incorporates x-rays into some of his work.
Ultimately, René considers himself an artist first and a photographer
second.
