Hamilton
China
Hamilton is a world renowned fine art photographer. His
work has often examined the darker side of female sexuality alongside
his more traditional erotic pictures. Much of his later work is inspired
by sadomasochistic subjects. He
was born in London, England in 1946. He attended Croydon Technical
School before spending four years at Croydon College of Art and Design
where he studied drawing, graphic design, and photography.
After college
he and a partner established London's first specialist macro-photography
business, specializing in photographing antiques for
dealers and London's auction houses.
China is considered one of the leading fine art
photographic printers of his day. He has mastered and improved many
historic processes and has contributed to photographic science a number
of new printing processes including making photographic images upon
hand made watercolor paper and copper sheets.
His photos have been
published in numerous magazines as well as many book compilations.
He has published several critically acclaimed books including: Woman,
Intimate
Obsessions, Bittersweet
Sex, and The Cabinet of Dark Things.
In 1996 he was awarded the global title of Erotic Photographer of
the Year.
