Scott
Gerth
Indiana
photographer Scott Gerth started taking pictures as a way to chronicle his
life and that of his friends. Over the years he began to see photography
as a means of expressing himself in a social and political way, much in
the way that Joel Peter Witkin has. His motto is, "If you aren't
pissing anybody off you're not doing it right".
Scott recalls being hooked on photography the first time he took control
of the creative process. "To create something out of chemicals and
paper is as close to being a parent as I'll ever know", he says.
Scott's work with female models is meant to be thought-provoking without
relying on nudity to carry the image. He likes to show that a part can be
more interesting that the whole.
