Ludovic
Goubet
Born
in the French city of Rueil Malmaison, Ludovic Goubet grew up watching his
father shoot pictures. He remembers the smells and sensations of the
darkroom, which they set-up in the family bathroom. He also remembers the
countless magazines and books brought into the house. Along with his
father he familiarized himself with the great masters: David Hamilton,
Helmut Newton, Lartigue, Brassai, and many others. When he was eighteen,
his father actually gave him his camera. And that, according to Ludovic,
is when it all started. He began going into Paris to search for pretty
girls to photograph. Surprisingly he found foreign girls the easiest to
work with - at least they were the most eager to model in the nude. He
developed his eye for beauty and the basic skills required for art and
glamour photography.
Although his life went in other directions, he kept up photography as a
hobby. And after he met Patti, whom he met at a club he used to own in
Tuscaloosa, Alabama she became both his wife as well as his muse. And a
more perfect subject he could not have: she is a beautiful, shapely, and
photogenic subject. Together they have created a deliciously varied and
exciting body of work ... something that is certainly worthy of the time
he and his father spent mulling over the work of other great
photographers.
