David
W. Good
David
W. Good is an emerging Fine Art Photographer. Taking time to develop his
skills and nurture his style, he is producing a body of work that is
getting him noticed. His humility though keeps him well-grounded and
striving for perfection.
Based in Northern California and being self-taught, he has been able to
avoid the trap of mainstream photography and the stereotypical
"glamour shot" rut. Using amateur models, some posing for the
very first time, also keeps his material fresh and their expressions pure.
His models are as natural as the locations they shoot in.
He draws inspiration from many sources but is strongly influenced by a
select few. He willfully gives credit where credit is due. Sally Mann's
command of black and white photography and the boldness of her portraiture
moves David to push the limits of conventional thinking. The classic
styling and grace of Pascal Baetens' nudes melded with the body sculpting
and motion freezing techniques accomplished by Lois Greenfield all combine
to shape the feel of his work.
He utilizes Nikon 35mm and Mamiya medium format film equipment to create
his material. Mother Nature is his muse and the world is his studio.
Though his photography spans many genres, with some pieces having been
published in international magazines and special interest periodicals, the
most rewarding work comes from collaborating with creative models and that
is what draws him into the world of Figure Art.
My
long time friend and author R. P. Faulkland graciously wrote this
introduction and it is with great humility and my deepest gratitude that I
let it speak for me ~ David W. Good
