Chris
Graves is a 36 year-old photographer born and based in Denver, Colorado,
USA. He took his first photos at the age of 11, using a camera he made out
of a Quaker Oats box. During the intervening 25 years he has moved away
from the oats box, to say the least. He has been published in several
magazines and newspapers as a freelance photojournalist, and has worked as
a cinematographer on several commercials and feature films. In 1993 he won
a Student Academy Award for his work on the animated short American
History. He currently works "part-time" at the internet
company he founded in 1997. The rest of the time he pursues the perfect
cup of coffee as well as the perfect model.
Holding a disinterest for the typical "Playboy-type" girl, Chris
prefers instead to photograph the girl-next-door, one who preferably has
never modeled before. The best models are those "who have no idea how
interesting and beautiful they are. I love it when I show a first-time
model the final photos and they can't stop looking at them." Having
the luxury to pursue photography solely for art, Chris shoots only a
handful of women a year and will spend weeks preparing for a shoot by
finding the perfect location, which is generally on-location shoots.
