I
have been a professional photographer for over 30 years and have worked in
the entire medium from fashion and advertising to catalog and fine art.
Beginning as a rock-climbing photographer in the 70's I learned my skills
working in black & white photo labs. After being kicked out of
"Books Institute of Boring Photography" for calling up 900#'s on
the school phones (I worked as a janitor nights) I moved to New York City
and worked as a freelance catalog photographer and assistant. In 1988 I
moved to Milan, Italy to checkout the editorial fashion scene.
My time in Europe helped me put emotional content into my work. I returned
to California in the early 90's, making photographs and videos for the
music industry. This resulted in complete photographic burnout. In order
to recover, I went back to the start of my photography and began to make
rock-climbing photographs again.
Working both editorially and in advertising I felt that I was on the right
track. The StoneNudes Project began in 1999 and was something that
I had always wanted to do. I'd been making nudes off and on for most of my
career, transferring it to the Stone was the one thing that used all of my
talents to their fullest. The project is now ready for a book; I'm
continuing to make climbing photographs hoping to publish a portrait book
of climbers.
I'm only offering StoneNudes Calendars through my website www.stonenudes.com.
And I will be selling prints (inkjet) and Posters by July of 05.
