Sylvie
Blum
Longtime
companion and wife of the internationally renown master, Günter Blum,
Sylvie Blum was an acclaimed fashion model who walked the catwalks of
Paris for Haute Couture for more than ten years. Still a beauty, she
nonetheless moved behind the camera to work as a photographer is 1997.
Being married to one of the great masters of the twentieth century was
undoubtedly an education and experience many photographers would kill for.
She organized his exhibitions throughout the world oversaw the publication
of his work in Germany, Japan, and England.
It was after Günter's death in 1997 that she decided to continue the work
that they has so lovingly engaged in together. That's when she left
modeling and started to shoot herself. Two years later she published her
first book, Venus Selbst, published by Edition Braus. Now a highly
regarded artist in her own right, her success is testimony to both her
talent as well as her inspiring tribute to the memory of Günter
Blum.
Sylvie works mostly with Rollei and Hasselblad 6x6 cameras and does her
own darkroom work. She recently opened her own studio in Mannheim,
Germany. She can be found there when she's not traveling the world taking
pictures and continuing the family tradition.
