years ago Herb Booth was given a roll of film to take some pictures. That
introductory experience transformed him and set the course for the rest of
his life. He went on to study photography in Daytona, Florida and
afterwards spent the next several years traveling throughout Europe and
Central America, shooting portraits for an American company. He eventually
went into business for himself and opened his own studio. That was fifteen
years ago. His success in the commercial world has has kept him pretty
busy over the years but his real passion has long been figure studies and
Herb says that he especially enjoys using color and texture in his images
to contrast with the human body. And much of his work incorporates a
unique twist on reality where things aren't necessarily what they seem.
It's a creative and truly inspiring body of work. If he can sustain this
level of inventiveness, he will surely secure himself a position near the
summit of American photography.
