Fabio
Borquez
Fabio
Borquez is a trained architect. He was born in Argentina but has been
living in Düsseldorf, Germany for many years. His initial photography
jobs were mostly related to architecture and his work appeared in numerous
magazines and books. It was fun work and allowed him to travel the globe.
Several years ago, while on assignment at the Albion Hotel in Miami,
Florida, he met a girl in the water. Ten minutes after meeting her, he
proposed marriage. And they did indeed, end up getting married, and
together moved to a small farm outside Düsseldorf where he has his
studio.
Fabio works with a Nikon F3HP and a Mamiya RB67. He says his influences
are the masters, Newton and Mapplethorpe. A more recent influence has been
"reality television" where the revelation of peoples
"darker side" holds a particular fascination for him. He says
much of his recent work is about trying to extract the same level of
intimacy from his subjects, but does admit to trying to channel their
inner beauty and sense of glamour and style into the end result. The
camera, he says, can help him discover the hidden souls of his subjects.
