At fourteen I had my own darkroom, and at seventeen I was head photographer
of y high school yearbook staff. At that tender age
I didn't understand the concept of "tasteful" nudes and thus became the
only
top photographer on staff that ever failed the class. This brought
my education in the arts to an abrupt end. For many years, all I did was
take occasional snapshots.
For the past forty years I've been friends with a single lens reflex camera.
It's come a long way from a Pentax with Plus-X or Tri-x and now I feel
like I'm finally coming into my own place in time. Now I find myself in
southern California, surrounded by beautiful women and with the maturity
to appreciate more than the physical, the time to study my art and the
ability to bring them together. Life is good. But when my responsibilities
here are complete I'll sail away following the perpetual summer.
