Amit
Bar
Amit Bar was born in Israel in
1950 into the Kibbutz Kfar Hamaccabi. As a kibbutz member he was initially
precluded from studying at an art college so he settled for taking drawing
lessons during the evenings. He was, however, eventually granted
permission to study Creative Art and Comparative Literature at the
university of Haifa where he came to focus on photography as his major
method of expression. In 1988 he moved to the Netherlands and started
working as a freelance photographer and painter. He soon started to look
for ways to combine his passions for painting, drawing, and photography
and started to experiment with photo collages that involved all three
mediums. Amit now incorporates body-painting as an additional way meld the
mediums of painting and photography.
